About

What is a Dance Marathon

A charity dance marathon is a way for participants to celebrate their hard earned efforts of fundraising for a charity. BOBBYTHON will allow students the months of February and March to work hard and reach fundraising goals for CCDC to get tickets to the event.  Like Penn State's THON, dance marathon's are a popular student led event at colleges to teach students the importance of donating and fundraising for charity while having tons of fun all night long!

How do I Participate

If you want to attend the biggest event of spring, you have to fundraise! All participants of BOBBYTHON must reach fundraising goals to celebrate at this exciting event. Goals for fundraising are as follows…

$100 for Individuals

$300 Teams of 3-6

$550 Teams of 6-12

On April 3rd we will be checking in with everyone who has a fundraising page that has reached their goals and distribute tickets. Teams have until April 10th to reach fundraising goals, and Individuals have until the day of the event! Remember, teams must be established by April 1. After receiving your tickets, dancers (participants) can get ready to register for an exciting night of activities and sports tournaments. Tournaments will be set the week of the event, registration will be sent around this time.

Why are we starting BOBBYTHON

After the School of Business was endowed by The S. Kent Rockwell Foundation, students and staff were inspired by their pillar of community impact to make change in our local community. Then inspiration flowed as we started our journey to create an engaging and exciting fundraising event for all students on campus to donate to a local charity that means the world to us. BOBBYTHON was created to add to our rich culture of student involvement and grow our local impact. CCDC was the perfect fit. Not only have RMU Students been supporters of the food pantry for years, but our own Randon Willard is the Co-Executive Director of CCDC. We hope with the help of the RMU Student population we can help Coraopolis fight food insecurity and provide meals to families in need.
